ROBERTSDALE, Ala. – Baldwin Realtors is on a mission to fit all Baldwin County students in need with a new pair of shoes by raising $15,000 by August 15 through the Shoes That Fit program. Approximately 5% of students in Baldwin County schools do not have shoes that fit properly. Something as simple as a pair of shoes can increase a child’s physical activity, attendance at school and self-esteem.
“Baldwin Realtors are passionate about serving our local community, but not just because it’s where we work,” said Kandy Hines, president of Baldwin Realtors’ Board of Directors. “Our members are always looking for ways to get involved and lend a hand wherever it’s needed. We are about family, and supporting others is just who we are.”
In May, the Realtor association donated more than 20 pairs of shoes to students at Robertsdale Elementary School. The new shoes replaced some that were two sizes too big or too small and shoes that were missing soles on the bottom.
“Partnerships with organizations like Baldwin Realtors are so important to helping meet the needs of many of our students who often do without,” said Sarah Parker, counselor at Robertsdale Elementary. “The offer through Shoes That Fit was a great surprise and blessing to so many at our school. Every student I spoke with was so excited to show me their new shoes.”
Each year, Shoes That Fit helps 131,000 children at more than 2,500 schools across the United States. Since its inception over 25 years ago, the Shoes That Fit program has become the largest national organization of its kind and has been awarded numerous honors for its philanthropic work.
“Shoes That Fit is a tremendous program that I applaud Baldwin Realtors for launching,” said Baldwin County Public Schools Superintendent Eddie Tyler. “I want to encourage everyone to consider supporting this effort which will ensure that children who need shoes for school have them, and I also want to thank Baldwin Realtors for their hard work on many other fronts, including their work legislatively in support of our students, teachers, and employees. This partnership is a great example of why we say we are #communitystrong and #baldwinproud.”
“We hope that the public will follow in the Realtors’ footsteps to put shoes on our children’s feet,” said Sheila Dodson, CEO of Baldwin Realtors. “We support strong schools and are looking forward to working with the local schools to help these students in need.”
The Baldwin County community is invited to help Baldwin Realtors provide shoes for all Baldwin County students in need.
